Who We Are

Passionate, Dedicated, Nature and Animal Lovers

Angela Cruz

After many years of singing in Europe and two albums of pop-folk songs for BMG and Universal, Angela Grifo Cruz decided to change her life and move to the Dominican Republic. There she got closer to her second passion, horses. She worked in many equestrian centers of the north coast where she worked with horses of tourists, horses of owners and horses of the racecourse of Santo Domingo thanks to her friendship with Nayib Aude the veterinarian of the racecourse. She learns a lot about the care and conditions necessary for the well-being of these intelligent and sensitive animals.

One day while walking down the main street of Cabarete, she came across a young boy leading a 2 year old foal, loaded with stones and wood, thin, starved and dehydrated. On a whim, she gave the boy 2,000 pesos and left with the young horse, whom she named Frica. Thus began the adventure of the creation of Singing Horse Foundation/ El Caballo Cantante. For more than 15 years now, dozens of horses have passed through her expert hands. Angela makes it a point to always share her experience and advice with horse owners, and anyone who loves animals and wants to learn is always welcome at the foundation’s ranch. She also teaches Monty Roberts’ Horsemanship practices for breaking and training young or wild horses.

Manuel Molina

After studying music composition and choral conducting, and directing numerous choirs in France, Manuel Molina, Angela’s childhood friend, answered her call to join her in the Dominican Republic and participate in the launching of the Singing Horse Foundation. A neophyte in the field of horses, he was soon integrated into the organization of the foundation, especially in the musical part of the project which consists of the creation of an adult choir gathering the various nationalities of Sosua, and a children’s choir coming from the disadvantaged barrios. These two initiatives, supported by Mayor Ilana Neuman, La Casa de Arte and its director Adolfo Faringthon, are still a success today. The foundation is now fully integrated into the Dominican community.

Paola Doe

Horses are my life! I started riding horses in English style at a very young age and, after several years in the world of show jumping, I became interested in communication with the horse, gentle dressage and the recovery of traumatized or aggressive horses (Naturalhormanship).

I studied in Italy ethology, various methods of naturalhorsemanship of masters such as Monty Roberts, Pat Parelli, Marco Pagliai. I also became interested in the physical health of the horse, with schools like Jaime Jackson’s Horse Hoof Care and BHI Barefoot Horse Italy and I am also a veterinary assistant specialized for horses.

From English style riding and show jumping, I expanded my knowledge in other disciplines, such as Gimkana and Horse Mountain Trail.

A few years ago my passion turned into a profession, starting in Italy and then, since 2019, with Singing Horse Foundation, where I have been able to deal with the recovery of traumatized horses, bringing adult riders and children closer to the wonderful world of communication with horses, and also working with disabled people.
