Omega Story
Here is the story of Omega, a purebred from the racetrack of Santo Domingo.
One day, Angela was warned that two horses were living on the construction site of a large house a little further down the road to El Choco. With a friend, Valery, Angela went to realize the health of these two animals. What she saw terrified her. Two thoroughbreds were offered to the owner of the house under construction, a man named Charlie. Not very interested in these horses, this man did not take care of them at all and let them live in the middle of the concrete, planks of wood, rubbish of all kinds. They ate what they found, that is, almost nothing, and drank in pools of stagnant water or buckets filled with cement. They had been there for almost a month before Angela heard about it. She went to see the owner to ask him to do something for these poor animals, but it did not interest him, even when Angela told him that these animals were so weak that they probably only had 15 days to live.
A week after this interview, one of them was dead. Without further ado Angela made the decision to bring back the last, which she called Omega, to the center.
Then began a long struggle, which lasted more than a year, to restore health to Omega. Rehydration by infusions several times a day, detoxification of the various poisons ingested on the site but also stemming from the sudden doping at the racetrack as a racehorse, prolonged care of the skin which left in whole shreds due to the malnutrition and the ‘poisoning.
All this without counting the psychological trauma experienced by Omega due to the abandonment of its lifestyle at the racetrack to be thrown in the trash as a common waste.
A hard fight that Angela finally won thanks to her perseverance and Omega’s desire to live.
Today Omega lives at Sea Horse Ranch, sheltered in a boxing and a new owner takes care of him. But he still recognizes Angela when she goes to visit him.
You can see two photos of Omega, when he arrived at the foundation, and a few monthes later…
